Around a third of people who have a stroke experience aphasia – a language and communication disability affecting more than 350,000 people in the UK.

Every year, during June, the UK Aphasia Alliance runs National Aphasia Awareness Month.

This year, together with other members of the Aphasia Alliance, the Stroke Association is:

  • distributing an awareness postcard featuring key facts about aphasia and ‘top tips’ for better conversations;
  • using social media to promote the need for better understanding of aphasia;
  • using the hashtag #Aphasia to raise awareness on Twitter.

Greater awareness is vital – and will help to improve communication and quality of life for people with aphasia.

Your help to spread the word would be much appreciated!
